Resource-Based View on Logistics Strategies: A Theoretical Perspective on the Omani Logistics Firms

Abstract

The primary purpose of this study is to theoretically investigate the effect of integrated logistics on the Omani logistics firms’ competitiveness. Theoretically, this study adopts and builds on the resource-based view which claims that exploitation of firm’s resources and capabilities would contribute to its competitive advantage, and which, in turn, should contribute to the performance of the firm. The present study involves the development of a conceptual model for theoretical exploration of a phenomenon. Therefore, this study reviews the existing literature for identifying concepts and relationships relating to the phenomenon. Findings show that this study has contributed to the literature on logistics management and integrated logistics strategies in emerging economy in Oman. As well as, the present study has exposed the logistics firms in the Sultanate of Oman to the aspect of integrated logistics strategies that are important to the firms’ competitiveness.
